Hosting A Virtual Fundraiser :: Airlift Power Hours
In-person house parties have proven to be our most effective way of helping people understand why it’s so important to encourage political giving towards community based grassroots groups. In this new pandemic environment, we shifted our format so we can still effectively expand and educate our network of supporters.
Virtual fundraiser basics.
Virtual fundraisers can be day or night (depends on how many timezones are invited!)
Airlift provides to hosts:
a full host guide (see sample here)
a personalized event landing page (see sample here)
complete RSVP tracking (so you don’t have to!)
RSVP confirmations and Zoom links to each guest
Events are meant to be communal and interactive with plenty of time for chit chat and Q+A
If you have multiple networks you want to expose to Airlift (book clubs, extended family in other parts of the country, cycle studio friends, etc.), we will happily do separate events for each of these groups in this more intimate format
Sizing up your event.
In order to create a feeling of camaraderie and community in a virtual environment, these events will be small with a more curated guest list. To foster openness and comfort without getting chaotic and noisy, we suggest curating a guest list of people who may know each other, even if only as acquaintances.
We are happy to host larger groups, too, but seeing a smaller set of familiar faces in a virtual event: (1) lessens feelings of digital isolation, (2) improves guests’ attention spans, (3) increases participation and (4) helps logistically to keep ambient noise to a minimum while allowing more audience interaction.
General flow:
Allow time for Host greets guests and introduces presenter, Renee Linde
Mini Zoom tutorial to ensure everyone knows how to participate
Airlift Presentation (this includes interactive portions for Q+A)
Thank you (+ wine)
Time for non-Airlift virtual fun, like trivia, book club, family reunion time, etc. (ask us about this!)
